A short film, like an animation, is a great medium for producing horror- they are just long enough to build up some tension and produce one or two quality scares, and they are just short enough to leave a lasting impression and lurk in your thoughts for the next few hours. Watch these hand-picked short films- but try not to scream; they are terrifying.
1. Mother Died
Mother Died is a well done, chilling short film about a young woman’s fight for survival amongst an ongoing apocalypse.
2. Lights Out
True to its name, Lights Out is a very dark (literally and figuratively), creepy short. You might want to sleep with the lights on tonight. This film was the Winner of ‘Best Short’ at FANT Bilbao 2014: as well as the winner of ‘Best Director’ in the ‘Who’s There Film Challenge‘.
Abe is an incredibly well executed horror/sci-fi short about a robot and an imprisoned young girl.
4. Don’t Move
Set on one fateful night, six friends gather for their monthly ‘games night’… and accidentally unleash a demonic force that might tear them – and their friendships – to pieces.
5. Still Life
This creative short details the life of a man who is driven to madness by the mannequins that surround him.
Based on the short story by Kealan Patrick Burke:
Larry just wants to enjoy the first day of his retirement. But there are a couple of obstacles in his way. First, there are the kids next door who insist on racing their dirt bikes through his yard.
